Hormonal hair loss is linked to a hormone, DHT (dihydrotestosterone) , synthesized by the enzyme 5α-reductase from testosterone. But the hormonal drop is not based on one mechanism, it has four.

Androgenetic alopecia affects one in two men by age 50 and 40% of women after menopause. It is triggered by a cascade of four self-sustaining processes — which is why a single product always reaches its limit.

① Hormonal conversion. Under the action of 5-alpha-reductase, testosterone is converted into DHT. In genetically sensitive follicles, this hormone shortens the growth phase: the hair grows back thinner, shorter, until it stops growing altogether. This is follicular miniaturization.

② Low-grade inflammation. A subtle perifolliculitis develops around the follicle.
