FEMALE ANDROGENIC ALOPECIA: THE PROTOCOL
Designed by Dr. Julie Pernet, Doctor of Pharmacy and certified Trichologist

Is your hair thinning on the top of your head? Is your hair thinning and changing texture with age? Is your part widening? Is your scalp becoming more and more visible?
These may be signs of a androgenic alopecia (or hormonal hair loss). Female pattern baldness (FPA) affects nearly 40% of women over the age of 40, and it can begin as early as a woman's twenties. This guide is here to help you better understand this condition, learn about your options, and, most importantly, take back control of your hair.

I am Dr. Julie Pernet, Doctor of Pharmacy and certified trichologist. I have supported hundreds of women suffering from androgenic alopecia. I have designed a specific protocol with a clear objective:
➔ Treat female androgenic alopecia sustainably, while keeping hair healthy.
What is female pattern baldness?
THEandrogenetic alopecia Female pattern baldness (AAG) is a chronic, hormone-dependent hair loss. Unlike male pattern baldness, it does not create clear bald areas, but rather a diffuse weakening, including:
■ On the central parting (parting that widens)
■ The top of the skull
■ Reduced overall volume
Unlike men, the hairline is often spared.

What are the causes ?
AAG can be caused by several factors:
■ A excessive sensitivity to DHT, a hormone derived from testosterone, which affects the hair follicle and causes slow & diffuse hair loss
■ A genetic predisposition, often familial
■ Aggravating factors: chronic stress, hormonal disorders (polycystic ovary syndrome – PCOS), menopause, deficiencies, inflammation of the scalp
How is it diagnosed?
The diagnosis is based on:
■ A clinical observation: widened parting, thinner hair on top
■ Trichoscopy (digital scalp magnification): miniaturization, reduced density, unequal diameter between hair fibers
■ Biological assessment (if prescribed by the doctor): androgen hormones, iron, zinc, thyroid
Please note: AGA can coexist with other causes of hair loss (deficiencies, stress, inflammation, etc.). Hence the importance of an accurate diagnosis!
My Female Androgenic Alopecia Protocol
To hope for lasting effectiveness, it is essential to adopt a comprehensive approach, which is not limited to masking the external signs, but which also acts on the underlying causes of AAG.
That's why I created a Hormonal Anti-Hair Loss Protocol which contains 4 complementary products to fight against AAG and thicken hair.

Adopt a healthy and anti-inflammatory diet
Diet also influences AGA. For example, excess blood sugar promotes the release of DHT and inflammation around the bulb. Therefore, it is important to adopt a healthy, anti-inflammatory diet.
TO BE PREFERRED:
■ Omega-3: oily fish (sardines, mackerel, salmon), flax and chia seeds
■ Green & cruciferous vegetables: rich in antioxidants, detoxifying (broccoli, spinach, kale)
■ Red & colorful fruits: anti-inflammatory (blueberries, pomegranate, black grapes)
■ Turmeric + black pepper: powerful natural anti-inflammatory
■ Natural probiotics: fermented milk yogurt, kefir, miso, sauerkraut, kombucha
■ Prebiotic fibers: artichoke, leek, garlic, onion (nourish the microbiome)
■ Natural vitamin D: egg yolk, cod liver, moderate sun exposure
■ Hydration: 1,5 to 2 liters of water / day (promotes the skin barrier)
TO BE LIMITED:
■ Ultra-processed products: industrial meals, snacks, additives, etc.
■ Fast sugars: sodas, candy, pastries (glycemic spikes = inflammation)
■ Cow's milk products: sometimes pro-inflammatory in sensitive people
■ Gluten: may worsen symptoms in some patients (to be tested)
■ Alcohol: strongly discouraged (recognized trigger factor)
■ Excess red meat and processed meats (high in saturated fats & AGEs)

Healthy lifestyle & stress management
A healthy lifestyle is essential because oxidative stress weakens hair follicles and lack of physical activity slows down microcirculation in the scalp.
■ Regular gentle physical activity: 30 min of walking, yoga or swimming 3x/week
■ Restorative sleep: 7 to 8 hours per night, avoid screens in the evening
■ Stress management techniques: cardiac coherence, meditation, breathing
■ Psychological support (if chronic stress or strong emotional impact)

In conclusion
AAG cannot be cured, but it can be controlled sustainably with a comprehensive & long-term approach:
■ By acting at the root (products, mesotherapy, microneedling, etc.)
■ In blocking DHT thanks to targeted food supplements
■ Taking care of the scalp microbiome, a key element in hair loss
■ By adopting a consistent lifestyle
