Where does psoriasis come from? 

Scalp psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the upper layer of the scalp. It causes red patches covered with silvery, often thick scales that form due to an acceleration in the production of skin cells.

This condition is usually linked to genetic and immune factors and can be triggered by external factors such as stress, cold or certain hair products.

     Scalp psoriasis can be recognized by several distinctive signs:
 Plaques and scales: Demarcated, very dry red, white or silvery areas with visible skin buildup that flakes off and feels like snow when touched.
Itching and irritation: The scalp is often dry, with itching that can be intense, sometimes causing slight bleeding if the skin is scratched.
Location of lesions: In 30% of cases, it is found on the scalp but there is often another location on the elbows and knees.

In comparison, seborrheic dermatitis is characterized by small, diffuse, oily, yellowish scales, caused by a fungus rather than an autoimmune disease. Therefore, the treatment protocol differs.
